Can a wood floor be installed over brand new linoleum?

We are building a new house and the house comes with standard flooring, if we want higher end flooring we have to pay the builders floor contractor, who is very expensive. We could buy the wood floor and have it installed cheaper by Lowe's for example. If we were to put linoleum where we want the wood, can one install wood over linoleum?

Yes you should be able to install a wood floor over the linoleum, it would make a very good moisture barrier, but I would also check with the flooring company and see what they recommend for their wood flooring.
