We remodeled our kitchen flooring with a Brazilian Cherry Hardwood.
We replaced the tile flooring in the kitchen and carpet in the family room with a Brazilian Cherry wood. The Brazilian Cherry wood is an engineered hardwood panel that floats over the old foundation. It is easy to install and took my sons and I two days to complete the project. The panels lock together as you lay them down.
This home improvement pulled the family room and kitchen together with the lovely
Brazilian Cherry wood
and the beautiful kitchen cabinets. We added some lovely Persian rugs for the family room, entrances and the kitchen.
There are many choices for remodeling, you can use linoleum, tile, or wood. These all come in many different styles, colors and designs. Each type requires a different skill set to install but the
is the same for any type of upgrade. The type and style you decide to use all depends on your taste and desires for your home.
Wood planks comes in thicknesses of 1/4″, 5/16″, 3/8″ & 1/2″ or (6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm y 13 mm). They can be solid hardwood, or engineered wood. They can be attached to the subfloor by staple, glue or floating, 1/4" thick planks cannot be floated.
You need to determine which method is recommended or required for the type of flooring you want to use. Is your sub-floor cement or wood? Cement sub-floors are typically on the ground level and need to be checked for moisture content, if they exceed the recommended moisture content then a moisture barrier needs to be installed over the cement. Check with the manufacturer for their recommendations.
If you are going to install this as a do it yourself project, study all the available recommendations, and talk with knowledgeable people before starting. Determine which type of material you are going to use and how are you going to attach it.
If you are going to glue the floor down, check out the process, does the manufacturer require that you use their glue, they put a tracer element in their glue to verify if you have used their glue if there is a warranty claim on the installation. Do they require that a professional installer installs the it?
Tile floors can be ceramic or vinyl. What is your application, is it in a high traffic area such as hall ways or entrance or high moisture area such as kitchens or bathrooms?
Ceramic tile can either have a thin top layer that is very pretty but can easily be scratched in high traffic areas. Other types of tile will have there color clear through the tile and resist scratching very well.
Vinyl tiles are usually the least expensive tile and easiest to install. Again study all the pros and cons for which ever flooring you select for the job you want it to do.
